A look at the origin of the names of some of Apples defining products. See the alternate name ads I created here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/48126477@N05/sets/72157625489418922/

  • Sorry if someone already mentioned this, but I am going to say it anyway. The "i" stood more for just Internet. Steve Jobs said that at the keynote. All of the things he said were:

    Internet

    Individual

    Instruct

    Inform

    Inspire

and one he didn't mention, but something Apple always does... innovation.

  • @Hildron101010 The confusion lies with what Apple marketing later came up with and what the actual origin of the term is. Ken Segall, the man who named the iMac, has repeatedly said that he originally came up with the "i" for internet. All the "individual, etc.." stuff came later in the process. Its similar to the Apple Lisa; everyone knows it was named for Jobs' daughter, but Apple officially said it stood for Local Integrated Software Architecture. As I said, the "i" started as "internet".

  • @MattsMacintosh Oh, I just didn't think those other iTerms came later because he said them at the initial release. Thanks for the info though.

  • @Hildron101010 No problem. Thanks for watching!

  • the ”i” stands for internet, individual, instruct, inform, inspire. just go to watch?v=0BHPtoTctDY and pause at 0:41

  • Matt, I am Sam. I am 16 years old and currently learning to become a game-artist. I've got a Macbook pro 17" early 2011 base model. now i need a machine witch is capable of rendering 3D environments etc and regular video and digital art work. witch is better for me? a upgraded 27" mac pro, or a full spec iMac, witch is basically a laptop with a SSD.

Is the mac pro worth it or should i get an iMac, off course i will wait for a 2012 refresh.

    thanks,

    Sam

  • You pronounced Bondi correctly! :)

  • For me the lowercase i stands for insanely expensive :D

  • Pod Man, is probably some chinese clone

  • @zainuintel Its a i7 Sony Vaio I think.

  • I thought the i came from Jobs' job title when he returned to Apple: iCEO

  • @MattsMacintosh Its probably collecting dust... and from 2000... XD

  • @MattsMacintosh is it a hackintosh :P

  • That would make Siri the PhoneMan.
