Ibanez RG 870QMZ HVV Premium sound test - Neogeofanatic (Full HD)

MY OPINION : This guitar mad in Indonesia is the missing link between standard RG models and Prestige models. Called the Premium, it features the Edge 2 tremolo with the ZPS3 system, which provides a better tuning stability. This guitar is VERY beautiful, and nicely crafted. The neck is very thin (wizard 3 shape) and the Edge 2 is made of non-corrosive metal. Pretty versatile, the sound doesn't have a lot of personality, maybe changing the pickups will bring more bite :)

GOOD POINTS : SUPERB look (but it's my taste), great wizard neck, beautiful fretting, great tuning stability with the edge 2 and ZPS3 system (you can even play unison bends, they'll sound in tune), Prestige-type finishes, nice guitar case.

BAD POINTS: good pickups but not great, don't get the habit to play this neck too much or your Les Paul will be hard to play after this one.

MY NOTE: 16/20 (bought 700 euros)


MON OPINION: cette nouvelle série Premium vient se placer entre les RG standards et la série Prestige en terme de prix, mais pas de qualité. Abordables et fabriquées en Indonésie, l'ouverture du flight semi-rigide inspire la confiance, la guitare est magnifique ! Ni trop lourde ni trop légere, elle se place naturellement contre le corps. Le manche est minuscule et super fin, ne pas s'habituer trop à ce profil sinon une Les Paul passera pour un tronc d'arbre a coté ! xD Le son est tres bon, mais serait meilleur avec un kit de micros avec plus de personnalité à mon avis, c'est le prix de la polyvalence je pense, les micros sont bons en tout, mais excellents en rien selon moi ^^

POINTS FORTS : SUPERBE look, manche tres (trop?) fin, super vibrato Edge 2, le systeme ZPS3 est excellent pour le maintient de l'accord (on peut meme faire des bends a l'unisson justes! ), finitions tres bonnes, joli étui semi-rigide.

POINTS FAIBLES: bons micros, mais pas assez de personnalité.

MA NOTE: 16/20 (achetée 700 euros)

Stp Nono connaitrait tu une Ibanez RG avec un vrais bon son du style de ta RG870 prenium et qui ne soit que dans les alentours de 400 a 500 euros ... et te demander conseil pour savoir si la Ibanez RG470MH ou la Ibanez RG370DX serait un bon choix ?? Bref merci beaucoup d'avance pour ta réponse ;)

Depends what amp you have too! I know people who play using dimarzios and their tone is so artificial sounding!

EMGs are known for being very high gain, this is true, but they're not bad. If you're smart, just put down the gain knob on the amp. People seem to forget that it's not all in the pickup, but the amp as well.

If you still don't have any luck, then you can swap pickups.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, the C-1 Custom from Schecter has passive duncans!

@TurkeyTuck Well its a really good guitar,but will that work for playing Vai,Gilbert,Satch? Because i heard the EMG pickups are only for high gain and they arent good at clean.

Hellraiser C-1 FR has floyd rose 1000 series, better than the Edge Zero II on any of these broken ass Ibanez's.

Hence why there's FR in the name.
