Maire is Gaelic for Mary; its Gaelic pronunciation is My-ra. Enya did not change her name. Eithne is pronounced as Een-ya. For the sake of simplicity, she put Enya on her label.

Actually, Enya changed her name herself. And Máire did the self same thing, please get your facts right.

Her name is Moya! Máire changed her name to 'Moya' because no one can pronounce it - its pronounced Moya btw. And Clannad did this song originally!

I believe Moya is the English bastardization of her name from it's original Gaelic/Irish. Much like Enyas real name is Eithne but was changed by the American press to Enya as that's closer to how it's pronounced. Same thing with Maire. She didn't change it it was changed for her because that's closer to how it sounds. But it's always been Maire on all their albums and that's what she chooses to go by.
