Bert Kaempfert-Snowbird (Gene MacLellon) From the LP 'Orange Coloured Sky', 1971.

Breaking away slightly from the French easy listening composers for a minute, I had to give some room for the very gifted and talented songwriter, arranger and musician Bert Kaempfert - and this excellent album from 1971 is no exception. I have uploaded a few tracks from this and others of the same period. His music is quite distinctive and his arrangements centre primarily in the brass section - and it is put to good use, along with really thick bass!

  • Fantastic BERT KAEMPFERT. Not to forget sound-engineer PETER KLEMT.

    Good team in studio hamburg.

Snowbird and Take The A Train often played in German radio.

  • Peter Klemt was also sound-engineer for James Last I believe...

  • Thanks a lot evadiendome. A great tune made all the better by that classic Bert Kaempfert sound. There is no other sound like it.

  • You're very welcome

  • i have over 400 of berts songs on my computer, more than any other single artist. he was the best.

  • Nice to hear from another BK fan! I've always love these instrumental covers more than the original pop songs themselves. The instruments voices seem to always impress me more than vocalizations. My 800 playlists are a tribute to over a century of pop music, organized by release year, artist & genre. Hope you have a chance to stop by. chuck in Phoenix

  • i have 8 albums by bert with my jazz collection as good wont part with them.hot dog beckley,wv.

  • Yet another wonderful BK arrangement. He's right up there with Percy Faith.

I just purchased this CD on Amazon, as a result of your post.

    Thank you.

  • Bert always used the brass, especially trombones, as percussion! That and Ladi Geissler's knack bass were what created his unique sound. Within my 700 playlists there are 400 artists from over 30 countries represented & Bert will always be one of my TOP favorites - thanks to evadiendôme for helping preserve his legacy! chuck in Arizona
