The ability of agrobiodiversity-related PES, the so-called 'payment for agrobiodiversity conservation services' (PACS) schemes to permit the "capture" of public conservation values at the farmer level, thereby creating incentives for the conservation of agricultural biodiversity and supporting poverty alleviation.
The application of Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) specifically for agricultural biodiversity conservation (PACS) is a new idea and Bioversity is at its forefront.
