We need to change the way we produce, package and consume food in favour of lower carbon alternatives. Farmers and fi shermen need to understand the impact of their activities on the environment. Overgrazing and
deforestation, for example, add to greenhouse gases because they destroy the global stock of plants that capture carbon. Food businesses
need to reduce packaging and waste and use transport more effi ciently. Food manufacturers,retailers and caterers need to offer affordable healthy, seasonal and locally sourced foods.
