Modernized 52 8055 was working several passenger trains on the occassion of the 150 year anniversary of the old Hauenstein line in Switzerland. The scenic line has inclines of 1 in 37.
The engine is no a complete new construction, it is only completely refined, at nearly all parts. This is why one have to 'old' look, but it shows which performance a realy new engine might have.
A complete new construction would rather look like a common diesel engine, as like we remember a steamer.
That's so cool. Steam is still viable!

Well, in the UK they did recently build a new steam engine from scratch. Search YouTube for the "60163", also search her on Wikipedia.

Oh I already knew it was just a refined steam engine, as you said it would cost a fortune to make a new one from scratch.
I was just saying its absolutely brilliant to refine one of the old steamers into something like this, although I would miss the smell of coal D:

But who has the money to order a new one?
