Tens of millions of people around the world have been forced to flee their homes, but unlike refugees who are protected by international law, they remain within the borders of their own countries. They are the displaced. Some of these people have been driven out by war, others by economic or political forces.
This video short focuses on the town of lakeside market own of Minova in Eastern Congo. Its one of dozens of makeshift centres where civilians are talking refuge from fighting. The Congolese army was battling with forces of renegade general, Laurent Nkunda, as well as other armed groups. The fighting forced thousands of families to flee villages with many living in desperate conditions.
