The adjectives хороший, бистрий are common Ukrainian words, which one finds also in Russian. The thing is that in Ukrainian they are less used but you will find them in any Ukrainian dictionary.

Oh right, I thought we use dobryj and shvydkyj since they're Slavic, whereas bistrij is Italian and khoroshij is Turkic?

Бистрий is archaic Ukrainian word...There are 5 villages in Ukraine called Bystrycia (see wikipedia) plus a river Bystrycia in Ivano-Frankivshchyna.
