Drawing on endowed funds and support from community volunteers and school staff, the Mann and Sanchez scholarship programs in Madison, Wisconsin, provide individualized attention to small numbers of selected students of color and their families.

Over 10 years, more than 40 Scholars have graduated from high school (100% of participants), over 90% have enrolled in post-secondary institutions, eight have graduated from college, four are currently in graduate school, and 22 remain enrolled in two- or four-year institutions.

Kathy Price is partnerships coordinator at the Madison Metropolitan School District. She sat down for this interview at the Wisconsin Graduation Summit, March 2, 2010, where her district gave a sectional presentation.
