Kanzi and his son, Teco, play at Great Ape Trust. For 30 years, Kanzi has lived in a bonobo/human environment. His actions seen in this clip help Teco develop more intricate and complex social and communicative behaviors.

  • Oh. My. God. This is beyond precious. It is only going to get better and better as Teco gets bigger and stronger. Please keep us posted with videos!

  • Respond to this video... Throughout the clip, Kanzi evinces the heart-warming interest of a new Dad — eager to be accepted, eager for relationship, yet respectful of his son's space and personhood. Does Kanzi know that Teco is his son? Does Teco think that Sue is his mother?

  • @jcgonzmo So you get a bonobo, put him in a cramped living space, made him do work for you, castrated him, and he eventually died of food poisoning he would have likely not gotten if he was living in a better environment, and you plan to get another bonobo? you obviously aren't that smart.

  • @jcgonzmo

that is animal abuse - this is resarch and i still dont think its taht ok

to grow apes as a pet is stricktly wrong

  • Bonobos are incredible smart. I got one as a pet and he was very educated. He would sleep on the backyard and got up at 6am to do some chores. He was very smart. He cleaned the floor, and let the dogs come out. Eventually I had to castrate him because he was very horny. He lived a happy life until 10 year. then he got food poisoning and died. I was really sad. However, I am getting another Bonobo in 2 month !

  • Have you tried to teach Kanzi the Earth is round?

  • and people say we arent related to them?

what a beautiful thing to be related to such gentle, beautiful, caring creatures!

sure, they may get wild and aggressive, but so do human beings!

this video is a testament to the traits we would probably never think existed in animal species -- the natural world is a fascinating place!
