"The Solipsist"

This is a short movie I created for arts class in school. It's an abstract explanation of the concept of solipsism.

Solipsism is a epistemological theory which states that I am the only consciousness that exists. I am therefore the creator of my own reality.
I reject this theory because of the paradox of time. If you deny the concept of time as a solipsist, if you 'allowed' time to exist within your reality, you should have knowledge of everything the past, present and future holds! You are therefore not free to do anything you want, as if you have knowledge of everything; you will always know what step lies ahead of you. The theory of solipsism fell in its own trap.

The short movie "The Solipsist" explains this concept abstractly (surrealistically). The man (lego doll) at the beginning, after the introduction screen, is the I; it is the one that creates reality. Besides it stands its creation; a house. The house is a symbol for reality. The house burns down, so symbolizing the necessary self-destruction of reality. The house was built out of lego bricks; I did this on purpose. Legos are the building bricks of reality!

The music in this movie was composed by me. It's an improvisation based on Portal's "Larvae", as you can hear in the beginning of the clip. I got the drumline from that song too. I meant no harm, it's just there as an esthetic effect. I didn't consciously cover Portal. I just improvised over the drumline.
