Sorry to disagree, much as I love Brick, Passion Play is the one I find myself still playing after all these years. Both are great, though!

@waynedanberry I agree. It sounds much more dated, however, this part here is one of my faves on this album. I think it was a big mistake to release another epic, long song directly after Thick...He is SO talented though! He gives great sax! LOL They sound flawless!

My opinion, what ever that's worth, Thick as a brick was their best! If you follow their albums from "This Was",up to" Aqualung", you'll see a progression. Then "Brick" just Hits you over the head. It's one long song. I don't think that was ever done before, even by ZAPPA. Then "A Passion Play" came out, and to me it seemed like an attempt to mimic "BRICK". It fell flat, even though there is some great music here and there, but "BRICK", I don't think there is one bad spot in the whole album.

agreed, and ian wrote passion play while touring thick as a brick at age 25-26,

I saw this concert and tull was the tightest band at that time, passion play is a very complex recording that i have listen to 100's of time..its a concept , you have to listen to the entire recording (sometimes many times) before you can get it.If you do the reward is the star of david, only upside down. peace

I agree totally. So unique, unforgettable. It was more than a concert, it was an experience like no other at the time.
So many were critical and it got poor reviews now looking back there is new appreciation.
-
By far the best of the hundreds of concerts I have attended.
-
My biggest regret is I never went to any of their concerts. I've heard they were among the best of the era!
THANK YOU.
The critics couldn't wrap their small, closed-minded brains around this MASTERPIECE.
This was a classical epic on the scale of anything Mozart or Bach ever created.
