I think this is called "anorexia nervosa"

if you dont eat more, youre body will go in starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down, if your a woman you should be eating around 1200 to 1500 calories a day. Stick at it and you will lose weight

The average woman should NOT be eating 1200 calories a day. 1200 calories is the world health organisation MINIMUM calorie intake for a woman.
Personally I can seemingly eat 2600-2700 calories and not gain or lose weight but its highly variable.

@Slaterking2010 hmm i stand corrected ;)

@wellslowly22 it really depends how much of your weight if muscle mass. I have been weight training for about 2 years so i have added about 10-15 pounds of extra muscle on top of my naturally occurring muscle. Also when i do cardio it is intense, and so is my weight workout.

@Slaterking2010 Im 19 yrs old weigh 210 pounds and im 5"10 inches tall and i workout 5-6 days a week 45 mins cardio and 3 days a week 45 mins resistance training a day and i only need bout 2500-3000 cals..so think bout it 2000 cals for a women is a bit too much(average women that is.)

@Slaterking2010 lol the woman will need to weigh atleast 160-170 pounds to be needing so many calories a day women should really not go over 1800 calories or they start over eating = hence weight gain

Listen to what he said. 1200 to "survive".
Women who do a bit of exercise 1-3 hours a week lets say walking and household jobs needs 2000.
-
isn't reducing the number of calories you need harmful to your organs
-
thats surprising because 1200 calories seems very low and i eat like 1600 calories and never feel full
don't most people need about 1500 for walking around or standing each day
but 1200 calories is the minimum amount only for survival

Really? Only 1200 calories? I'm doomed.
Steve, is there/what are the dangers in not eating enough calories a day b/c if weight loss is due to calories, can't it be achieved faster through taking in less calories? Thanks!

Weight loss is due to less calories (caloires deficit) either from exercise, eating less, or eating healthier.

That's it? 1200 total intake per day? That video made me want to cry... haha. That really sucks.
So to create a deficit, the only thing a woman can do is exercise? What's the lowest amount of calories a woman can eat per day without her body going into starvation mode? I thought 1200 was sort of the base rate for how much people who wanted to lose weight should eat on a consistant basis over time.

Please don't panic or cry! That is just a general number. It can vary from 1200-1600 or more depending on a person's condition and activity levels. Start with 1500 or a number that you can live with. Monitor your weight over the next 2-3 weeks and then make the necessary adjustment on either your calorie intake or activity level depending on if you're gain, losing, or staying the same.

Hi Steve. I'm 18 years old, 4'11", and 133 lbs..and want to get to 100 lbs. I don't do that much exercise, because I have chronic back pain and an extremely fast heart rate (it's 100 - 120 resting beats per minute), which makes me feel awful when I exercise. I also thought I should mention that I have a history of anorexia, bulimia, compulsive over-exercising, AND binge-eating. So, without including any exercise, how many calories would I need to consume a day to lose 1 lb per week?

I need some additional information and we should probably discuss a few things first. Please e-mail me through my website and we can begin the process.
