This little cheapo knockoff CRT TV is really easy to feed direct RGB to the cathode ray guns. Composite Video is left in place to pull sync, but the N64 console is directly driving the guns.

  • Clean that room Mister! ;)

  • @ajcrm125 I built that work table so it can be a work area :P

  • May I ask how are you amplifying and coupling the video to the CRT neck board? I've done something similar (feeding analog RGB through the OSD inputs and forcing fast blanking) but AC coupled video is a pain.

  • @133MHzz Heh... amplified... at all...

I've ordered an amplifier, but right now I just turned the flyback WAY up effectively increasing the brightness. On the stock setting, it was visible, but everything was extremely dark. Not smart or a good solution, but until I get the amp that's all I can do :P

If you look carefully at :41 you can see that the back of the TV has the cut-out for SCART but the board doesn't support it.

  • How noticable is SVIDEO vs RGB? Always wondered...

  • @donthehonk Svideo is fairly good, a huge improvement over composite. Colors won't be as sharply defined from one another, but areas of light and dark will be as those two elements are contained in separate channels.

  • I have a video like this. If anyone needs help, I actually explain it in mine.

  • @dannye812 see my channel for my video...

  • Could you please put up a video on here of how you modded your tv to take rgb?

  • What do you put the vga connector? thanks

  • "You can read the text" - LOL.

I have a TV in pieces next to me, found the RGB input pins for the OSD and documented the voltage for the OSD being on. Just gotta get me a SCART connector and wire it up for the first test.

What is a bit amusing is that the TV I have uses a SCART shaped hole in the back for composite and audio. Gonna be an easy mounting job.

  • pretty damn sexy TV for $5
