If you listen to the Nixon tapes, there is one section where is talking with John Dean, who served as White House Council to Nixon. They are talking about how to get away with perjury and at one point Nixon brings up the fact that, "You can just say you don't recall or that you can't recall an honest answer."

It's almost as if Alberto Gonzales did this tongue in cheek.

If the courts order you to testify before a grand jury (Where either refusing to testify or lying is an outright crime), you should comply. You should show up. And you should open your mouth after they ask you questions, but not to give answers. Babble on about unimportant things relating to what they're asking about, and remember the three magic words:
