@SmileyGarrish Yes, we wish we could do that however being in London, if you imagine the paperwork Police Officer has to file if he fires his pistol! If we used our Sword or one of our Pistols, there would be no end to it!

@Insperato62 I would prefer a change in the 'rules of engagement' wherein Guards are allowed to delineate their personal and professional space as being to the very edge of a thrusted sword swipe: Perhaps after a few painless decapitations the Masses will come to respect them more.

The guard is not a attraction, people should respect these guys more because they deserve it. Am not saying she disrespected him, but she got a bit too close.

The Trooper behaved very well under the circumstances and obviously decided middle-aged Japanese female tourists are more respectful than most. Heaven help them in 2012 - put them behind plastic walls or it could end in tears (or diplomatic incidents)
