I use torrents all the time to download software legally, Ubuntu, GPL and creative commons files and I will continue to do so.

What makes no sense is implementing section 92a in a country that has no sites to download non-DRM movies legally.
I do not think there is even a site to download non-DRM music available to New Zealand.
Regional licensing and DRM is the problem here and not the pirates, it is up to the publisher and not the government to find ways to reduce pirating. There are so many solutions but all the companies affected by it have to bite the bullet and work together.
Exactly. And since their making a bold generalization on the whole "file sharing" issue. They grossly made a lame assumption on the whole meaning, Its technically not theft if its freeware or open source or trial software. Either way their implementing it because the whole idea that they can make any pathetic excuse they want to play big brother on the whole infrastructure. And that is a huge breach of human rights. And it goes to show NZ as a whole has no say what the government pushes through
