My heart has been broken to million pieces, witnessing Khmer went hungry this way. Poverty is an incurable disease, especially if you happen to be Khmer. They were poor simply because they were happened to be born in Cambodia where their culture and tradition were totally destroyed during the dark period of the Khmer Rouge. When I was a little boy, we were poor, but never hungry. Every one helped one another in Khmer villages. Please Khmer Yeung Euy opens not your eyes but your hearts.

@alexee2007 I totally agree, start them off crops that easily produce in a short time period, to grow and live off the land is life time..when I was in the camp for years we (mom and 4kids 15yrs old- 6moth old) make our living on our small land and live off it and we sell the produce just enough to purchase things that we cant produce like Salt, Sugars Etc.....

I was in my early teen We have nothing but clever thinking I borrow my fiends allowance w/ determinations to pay them back. I buy and sell for profits but soon after I realized too much competitions in the market, brothers hiked the Mountain chopped down wood to sell and our lives getting a bit better and then we venture out other things....

Perhaps, you can help them by showing them how to grow food, instead handing out money. I donated waters and I will go by to show them to grow food. It is a long term.
