Esther Duflo, MIT economist and co-founder of the Poverty Action Lab, asks why the worlds poorest people tend to stay poor. • poverty only became a problem when the West colonized the rest of the world. Tribes in amazon or nomads in Mongolia are not poor, neither miserable. When one civilization comes and systematically rapes another, changes the whole identity of the colonized, gives them western values but no possibility to live a Western life what do you get? you get what we have in Africa. Identity matters, culture matters, sovereignty matters. Development by the west never brought anything good to the poorest.

  • Resources diminish.Population increasing.Demand increases.Competition increases.Population reduction would help since we can't really stop the resources from diminishing, however we can't just kill people with the reason of population reduction.Promoting adoption and limiting how many children a mother can spawn can help this balance among demand, resources, and population. The monetary system works when money FLOWS. When people keep the money and don't return it, more money is printed. Inflation

  • Why do poor farmers stay poor? Because they don't have the luxury of room to experiment.

The same problem confronts the poor in America. They can't afford to take chances by moving in new directions that would better suit their skill sets. So they miss out on business opportunities. Not only that, but when you don't experiment, you don't sharpen your mind or acquire new skills.

  • World wide poverty can be eradicated with greater education in many nations so they can have people who know what is needed to advance in social stratification. More social programs world wide which promote people to advance in society with better lives will help. Combating corruption is one of the most important things that must be done in other to eradicate poverty especially in third and fourth world nations of the world.

  • Economy must be a human science
