  • i rather steel shaft for my driver then a graphite shaft. i find when i use graphite shaft it has to much of a flex and it makes my ball shift right, when i use a steel shaft driver my ball goes straight and far and doesn't have as much of a flex as graphite does.. maybe my graphite 1 wood drive just sucks.. lol

  • @sooner70 In truth graphite shafts can be made just as stiff as steel shafts. However, the torque or twisting of the shaft that occurs at impact is far greater in graphite than in steel, forfeiting accuracy. The reason that you have experienced hitting a fade or slice with graphite previously is due to not having the proper flex/weight combination. The good news is that you have a found a steel shaft that you can hit straight and I will take accuracy over distance anyday. Go with what works.

  • the seam can't effect the overall performance of the shaft

  • @orrscustomgolf care to elaborate?

  • @orrscustomgolf I disagree; the weld seam inside a steel shaft most certainly has an effect on droop and load. Also, the performance of graphite shafts is affected by the wall thickness imperfections inherent in the sheet wrapping process. We use a couple of different pieces of equipment designed to test load and resistance to bending, and there is clear data to prove that the seam absolutely has an impact on the performance of the shaft.

  • i take exception to anyone who says the the shaft is the "engine" of the club. if that were true then there would be no need for you to swing the club. an "engine' PRODUCES energy or power. since the GOLFER provides the energy or power through their swing then the shaft is actually the "transmission". the LOFT of the club is the #1 fitting factor for ANY golfer. the flex of the shaft shaft is for "fine tuning" and therefor it IS important to be properly fitted for the RIGHT shaft. imho.
