You realize the United States didn't start fighting until 7 December, 1941, right? The War ended on 14 August, 1945. That's less than 4 years. The U.S. is now in its 5th year of the Iraq War.

@Kratoschaos: Check your facts. The U.S. didn't get involved until December 1941. It ended 1945. That's 4 years. Actually closer to 3 and change. But even if you wanna go by the 1939-1945 timeline (not counting the actual 1937 start date), you DO realize that we have already crossed the full 5 year threshold and are working on year 6 right now? The war will be going on by the end of this year so he'd be right again.

America's involvement in World War II didn't officially begin until after we declared war on Japan and Germany after the Pearl Harbor attack - December 1941.
