Solarzentrum Allgau's PV-Therm 180, an innovative solar PV panel combined with a solar thermal panel, was featured at their booth! The front side is the PV panel where the solar cells produce electrical power. The back side has water pumping through it and uses the heat hitting the panel to warm the water. In addition to providing hot water, this water flow also serves the purpose of cooling the solar panels, allowing the solar cells to perform more optimally. Since this panel combines both PV and solar thermal in one system, it is also a better use of space.
Willi also spoke about a mounting system the company currently has in development, where the panels can simply be clicked onto the installed roof mount system without any use of screws. Solarzentrum Allgau plans on making this product available in the U.S. market next year. This system is projected to cut installation cost by reducing the installation time up to 50%.
Willi won the innovative award at last year's Intersolar, and it is at that moment that he became acquainted with Reinhard Peter of Green Flash Energy Inc., a company focused on bringing innovative products from Europe to America.
Reinhard Peter is helping Willi to introduce his Combination Module PV-Therm to the U.S. market. Green Flash Energy has initiated all necessary steps to obtain the required certifications through TUV Rheinland/PTL, LLC including UL 1703, IEC 61250, IEC 61730, CEC and FSEC, which are needed to enter the U.S. market.
In an email after this interview, the company mentioned to us that Green Flash Energy has a certification from the State of New Mexico that allows them to sell and install the modules immediately! In all other states in the U.S market, the modules will be available for distribution only after approval of the required certifications, which are expected within the next 90 days. Please note that there is a six week lead time from initial order to product delivery from Germany.
buildaroo.com wishes both companies luck in their endeavors!
