Steve Hubacek of Wasilla Alaska entered his world record breaking cabbage into the Alaska State Fair General vegetable showcase to break the world record at 125.9 pounds. Then, two days later at the Alaska State Fair Giant Cabbage Weigh Off he broke his own record with a 127 pounder! The first world record cabbage was for prestige, a blue ribbon, and braggin' rights, the second, bigger one came with a $3000 prize. Now that's a lot of slaw! See here how it all went down.
I'm amazed at the size of this beauty. Are these sizes because of the long summer days? I wonder how far north you can grow veg? Does it coincide with the tree line/summer 10C/50F average max temperature which in Russia can be above 70 Degrees North?
