    I'm not sure but I think it was in preparation for the next flight for an unknown destination.

  • @generoussupply & airindia, you are both correct.

    As a TWA mx we designated them L 1-5 and R 1-5 on our 74's

  • @bearpaw72 TWA had a few starboard gates at JFK if my memory serves me correctly.

  • Except at TWA it was called R2

  • @bearpaw72 TWA commonly used 2R to board their 747s at JFK... I think it had something to do with the way the gates were set up originally.
