As I said previously, putting this on the internet puts you all in a position to be scrutinized, just like everyone else on U-tube. Why subject a brand new Iyawo to scrutiny? Even the traditionalists are scratching their heads over these clips. Maybe this is a lesson...Life is a lesson.
The iyaworaje is a time for learning to be in the world, but not of it. Your iyawo is right out on front street, scrutiny and all.

yes yes, libation is quintenssential in afrikan spirituality for abibifahodie! call up on the ancestors, the akan knows,the only bad thing with yoruba/ifa too many mayiti,tamahu,yurugus in it, it has become too diluted.

My presentation will include the scene from Cooley High when Preacher pours out the wine to his deceased friends. They are others in between including one from a Kwaanza celebration. And then I will finalize the presentation with your clip!

Thanks. I have collected various clips of people pouring libation (mostly in hollywood films). The theme of the class is African Self Identity and we are trying to show the students that they do things in their lives and are unaware of how they connect to african customs.

First and foremost, we respect the right for anyone to post comments on these video clips. However, if you are going to make a derrogatory comment or give a derogatory rating, then I would repectfully ask that you at least explain your position as opposed to slinging insults. There is an entire DVD from which these clips were produced. In it we explain unapologetically where we are coming from and why. I would ask that you do the same.
