In her 5-part (each 30-minute segment is posted separately) oral history interview, performer Rose Marie talks about her career which began at the age of three when she was "Baby Rose Marie." She describes her years as a child star and her transition to an adult actress. She talks about her early television appearances on Milton Berle's Texaco Star Theatre, The Colgate Comedy Hour, and her work as a regular on My Sister Eileen (1960-61), in the role of Bertha Bronsky. She describes her most memorable and enduring work for television on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-66), in which she played the role of writer Sally Rogers. Rose Marie also details her appearance as a regular panelist on The Hollywood Squares (1966-82) and as a regular character on The Doris Day Show, in which she appeared from 1969-71. She also talks about her more recent appearances as a regular in the series Scorch (1992) and Hardball (1994) and guest shots on such series as Murphy Brown, Wings, and Caroline in the City (in which she appeared with long-time friend and Dick Van Dyke Show co-star Morey Amsterdam).

  • She was one of those entertainers who made the successful transition from child performer to adult actress. Having a career spanning spanning more than 60 years is pretty damn impressive. Not only that, but maintaining a normal life away from the showlights is equally amazing - especially when you consider what fame does to many people.......

  • Such an interesting interview. She's a wealth of entertainment history. Rose Marie...a true showbiz treasure !!!

  • love this lady...

  • Very interesting interview. I'll have to get Rose Marie's book. What a career Rose Marie has had. Yep, she wasn't kidding about that BIG voice she had as Baby Rose Marie. If you get a chance, watch that video too. Rose Marie was gifted with big talent, but the reason she became a big star I believe is she has that loveability factor. You know what I mean. Not every star has it. She connects with people, you just can't help to love her.

  • What a fascinating story. And what a wonderful person. You can tell that she is not one bit pretentious. Rose Marie is the real deal. She always has been. A one of a kind.

  • Great interview...very classy lady.

  • Wow dude!Overreact much???

  • @Joedink1 ignorant biased morons deafen the rest of a tolerant society - get over your southern druthers and find that southern hospitality and christian values that it is renown for. besides last i checked she lived in van eyes California that is south of the mason dixon. not to mention that judging a person based on where they were born would fare worse for southerners then most others. especially with all those vertical family trees. you intelligence proves that bit.

  • yankees...so harsh sounding to southern ears.:)

  • She was born in 1923, just so you know.
