The Security Forces have unearthed a large stock of chemicals of the LTTE terrorists.
troops had recovered the largest ever stock of chemicals from Puthukudiyiruppu West. It was concealed under tight security measures. This chemical, Potassium Chloride is used for the production of C4 explosives. It was buried inside a water sealed tank preventing the generation of high heat.

A military officer said the chemical is used in the production of underwater explosives as well. This chemical could have caused unleashed massive devastation. It is believed that the LTTE had received the assistance of foreign experts in the manufacture of explosives. The troops took control of this jungle area in Udayarkattu-Kulam, a few months ago. Rohana Bandara recovered the stock of 3500 kilograms of Potassium Chloride, along with several weapons. The troops seized more than 10 bomb manufacturing units in this jungle location. They also found the moulds of mortars along with mortar shells. An improvised mortar which could effect heavy destruction was also recovered.
