Staying Safe In Cyberspace

Our motivation for this film was simply seeing all the articles in the news about the Myspace murders and about the lives of teens ending by social networking sites (in some way or another). This is an extremely important topic for everyone, but especially teenagers, because technology and social networking is such a huge part of society today and we need to gain the knowledge that there are unfortunately some bad people that lurk on the internet. We need to know what to do when we're in an uncomfortable situation. We also wanted to tell the viewers that the kids that were murdered somehow through myspace (and other sites) were not necessarily "dumb" because that is what we all think, when in reality the person on the other side was probably too cunning and the victim had no idea how they could get all their personal information when in reality there are ways, and those bad people out there that are TRYING to harm you, will know them and use them against you. So all we're really doing is opening up the minds of people and letting them know that this is 100% preventable. Just be smart and stay safe in cyberspace.
