Via Think Progress: "Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam (R) announced yesterday that he will "probably" sign a bill that attacks the teaching of "biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, global warming, and human cloning" by giving broad new legal immunities to teachers who question evolution and other widely accepted scientific theories...".* Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks.

I live in Tennessee. I'm glad I didn't get my education here though.

"Science is science, there are no interpretations of it!"

Looks like these guys don't know science much better...

If you really don't know the difference between a scientific theory and just a regular theory than you are a complete idiot. Learn the terminology, then bitch at me. Also science constantly adapts as more knowledge is gained. It relies on evidence. Your points are awful.

On Science: "There are no interpretations of it. It's fact. You can't make things up."

Honestly, I am far from being an evolution-denier, but such wildly uncritical views of the scientific venture are the best argument in the world for exactly such legislation as these Repuglicans are proposing.

On the Bible: "There are no interpretations of it. It's the literal truth. You can't make things up."

When it's Them doing it, we call it fundamentalism.

I don't have anything against Tennessee or the people there. It's a nice state to visit and the majority of people seem friendly. The problem with the state is the same as many others, many of your politicians seem abnormally fixated on this religion issue when your unemployment rate is high and the primary education system is poor. If they really think a state that promotes anti-science will be attractive to new business and technology then I assume they are delusional.

Tennessee is backward in some ways, but you would be surprised by some aspects. The NY Times was owned by a family in Chatanooga. Check out thedetour.us.
