Jesus Christ Superstar 1973 Movie.
The Last Supper.

Filmed primarily in Avdat, the Dead Sea and the Bell Caverns in Israel, Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1973, Oscar-nominated film adaptation of the rock opera of the same name, based on the conflict between Judas and Jesus in the last weeks before the crucifixion of Jesus. The film was directed by Norman Jewison. Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were nominated for two 1974 Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received.

  • Ah, the big face-off at 3:29 . Those men were both so musically strong and their voices played off each other so well. It makes me miss Carl Anderson dearly.

  • when judas sings, "You want me to do it?" that gives me chills

  • Thanks for all these uploads.

  • @Islandscene09 If so, it happens off camera and VERY subtly. But if that was a directorial touch, I'm very impressed that a) you caught it; and b) Jewison employed it. I've seen the JCS movie probably 30+ times and never caught that.

  • @Komnenit - actually, in SW Germany, I had a wine called Trollinger of exactly the same color and consistency. I've been trying to find it in the USA ever since.

  • @ShadowPoet174 - Yes, and it's also a subtle nod to the Gospels, which say that Judas ate before the others and was a tip-off that he had turned in Jesus.

  • "Get OUT!!!!!" in 5:35 is so amazing!!!!!

  • 1:13 The stop motion for a few second, as you know the picture by Leonard Da Vinci "The Last Supper". I love the scene.

And I love the first song of this scene, I feel the best song in this movie :)

  • It's like the Jeromy Kyle Show but singing/screaming :P And with a rock theme, I grew up watching this film, Ted Neeley can reach notes I haven't heard people like Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) or Geddy Lee (Rush) reach :o

  • Kids from the '80s might recognize one of the apostles as Jeff the mannequin from the TV show Today's Special. ;D

  • hey guys
