Mark bounces of post in wheelchair when trying to push button for audio pedestrian crossing signal. So much for safety.

  • I agree they're useless. Once you learn how to make them make a noise, they can be used as a honing device for the blind.

I have no idea what the purpose of the silent countdown timers are. It appears to be a costly venture that is of absolutely no use to the blind; the ones who need them the most. Most people know that a flashing walk signal means, if you walk slow, don't bother trying to cross. You won't make it.

  • Crosswalk signals are pretty much useless. I'm young and able-bodied, and at many intersections I still have to walk at a fast pace to get to the other side before the countdown expires. Not that motorists even really respect crosswalk signals anyway, they often turn right through without yielding the right of way to pedestrians.
