I don't even hear the accent you guys are claiming he has. Listen to the way he clearly pronounces the Rs in "river" and "forever." He doesn't have an accent and I don't think he's pretending to have one.

This guy is from New Hampshire. When we were in college together, he spoke/sang in a perfectly competent American dialect. WTF is up with the accent? Annoying and contrived and kinda douchey.
