Learn how to weave a double helix using seed beads and bugle beads. Color code your helix to represent base pair codings of your favorite DNA sequence. I made this video using Doceri Remote software for the iPad. For more information about this software, visit http://doceri.com. For more information on weaving seed beads visit http://beadinfinitum.com. To purchase a finished pair of DNA earrings, visit http://gwenbeads.etsy.com. To read more about beading DNA, see http://gwenbeads.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-bead-weave-dna-double-helix.html

Errata: The sequence of DNA used in the video is recognized by the restriction enzyme but is not actually part of the enzyme.

  • Wow, I really like your method of teaching!!

Thank you. Could you please do a video on making a cubic right angle rope? Using different colors for each side of the cubes? I am having a hard time with that stitch.

Then could you please do one on making a 3-D triangle pillow-like pendant?

  • @nblyleven Thank you for your feedback. I made a video on cubic right angle weave that shows a few different ways to color it, including using different colors for each side of the cubes. See the newest video on our channel.

  • I kept meaning to try this with other sizes of bugles, but I never got to it. I imagine that longer bugles will still work, but you will need to do more rounds to get the same amount of twist. That's just a guess. If you try it, please, report back with your results. Thanks! --gwen

  • Thank you for this Superb video! Could you use 6mm bugles too? Or would that destroy the beautiful effect?

  • @KlazineV I finally tried this with larger bugles, and it seems to still work fine. Try it!

  • Gwen Fisher-YOU ROCK! Love your video!

  • This is soo cool :D I tried doing it but didn't make my thread long enough so I only got to 6:25 and so far so good (though I have had a little trouble going through the bugles over and over again) . Definitely trying again, my inner geek is extremely excited about these :)
