Oregon Sniper Challenge 2010 - Helo Stage - POF 308

This was the Aerial Platform stage of the 2010 Oregon Sniper Challenge organized by Cold Bore Competitions. The Challenge is a two day competition that tests many facets of a sniper's shooting skills. Many professional snipers from around North America were in attendance as well as civilian competitors.

The rifle in this video is a POF 308 with EOTech Holographic Sight. The stage was sponsored by POF and the rifle was given to the highers scoring shooter.

Try shooting from a HH-60 moving at 100 knots at derkas. Also, a little brass is not going to fly up into the rotor wash and get sucked up through the intake. A hovering helo is not a good object to be in while you are shooting at enemy. Just food for thought.

Obviously hovering is not a good combat technique for several reasons. The chief being that a hovering aircraft it easier to hit than a moving one. Also a hover is less stable than a flyby. The bird likes to pivot on the axis of it's rotor. However when you are confined to civilian ranges you do what you have to do. If I were given the option, I would rather have a M240G for door gunner work. Not a lot of departments stateside will OK that one.

The "round catchers" are the steel plate targets downrange. Now if you meant "brass catcher" then you will notice two little "pegs" on the side of the rifle. There was a brass catcher there. The match director found out what we in the military already knew. It WILL jam the weapon so it was removed.

Now I am wondering why you didn't know that?

A piece of brass is not going to hurt a helicopter one bit. Have you ever seen the stuff they kick up when landing in an LZ?
