Heinrich Schliemann (German pronunciation: [ˈʃliːman]; (January 6, 1822, Neubukow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin -- December 26, 1890, Naples) was a German businessman and archaeologist, and an advocate of the historical reality of places mentioned in the works of Homer.
Schliemann was an important archaeological excavator of Troy, along with the Mycenaean sites Mycenae and Tiryns. His successes lent material weight to the idea that Homer's Iliad and Virgil's Aeneid reflect actual historical events.

I completely agree. This 6-part documentary about Troy is my favorite. What a great man was Heinrich Schliemann. He restored the Heroic Age for us. The Iliad is the Bible of the Western Civilization. In it you find all the archetypes that form part of our culture.

Ola Martul. Good videos! I love those documentaries with Michael Wood. They are far superior and more exciting than those with amateur actors in ridiculous costumes, re-anacting historical turning points. There is also an exciting and interesting quadrupology with Wood about Conquistatores which, I presume, you've seen. If not, one episode is about your ancestor Capeza de Vaca. See Ya, A.
