This is an easy way to make a steerable tailwheel for the Eflite Mini Ultra Stick. The parts required totaled less than $5.00 and took about 10-15 minutes to install. To do this you will need (1) Du-Bro Tailwheel Bracket - Cat No. 375, (1) 3/4" Sullivan Tailwheel - No. 351 and (2) 1/16" Wheel Lock Collars. These items are pretty standard at any hobby shop. You'll also need some hot glue and/or CA glue.

  • If I can see properly in the video it appears that at the forward end of the tail where the wire comes up that you have a bracket of some sort to hold the wire in place as it goes back to where you make the 90° bend up into the tail.

I don't see anything quite like what I think I see.

Can anyone help this newbie ID this part?

  • @w7wv73 It's just hot glue to hold the wire against the rudder. The wire bends up into the bottom of the rudder as well. Gravity does the rest.

  • good video

  • @Guinnie Thank you! A year and a half later and mine is still going strong. No breaks or repairs needed and I fly off of a grass field and paved field. Happy flying!

  • That depends on how good you were with your other planes. This plane is a lot of fun but due to the small size it can be a little twitchy.

  • I would go ahead and install it before the first flight. It's just worth it and easier to do before the tail gets banged up

  • AWESOME video TY FOR POSTING!!!

  • I just tried this same setup on my plane and it works great! Thanks for the tip. I also found that Du-Bro's 3" micro sport wheels are a perfect upgrade for the main gear. They make it easy to takeoff and land in short grass. If anyone is interested the part# is 300ms.

  • Just picked up a Mini Ultra Stick PNP at a great price, had to jump on it before the PNP is gone forever. Saw this video and immediately ordered all the parts to spec...thanks for making the "what parts do I need" element easy.

  • would this plane be good for some one that flew 3 ch planes befor
