I got this idea from bowtiebadboy when he had mentioned this paint in one of his videos. Over the years I was very disappointed with a number of companies who claimed to have chrome spray paint. This Dupli-color is the best I've seen and I just wanted to share. Alclad and Spaz Stix and others are likely better and nothing beats real plating (vacuumizing of aluminum by chrometech), but for a cheap solution that's pretty darn cheap, this is the way to go. I'll be persueing this further with sealers and I'll share more info as I experiement.

  • how long does it take to cure? i dont like the smell of spraypaint. Also can you gloss over top to make it even more shiny?

  • @Rhaabjorn Most gloss coats will actually dull this paint out to grey so don't try it. I haven't completely experimented with gloss coats but a varnish will probably work.

  • what primer do you use?

  • @DaBoogie049 Oh yea, I'm not using primer here. But I should to avoid the crazing. Just a black base coat.

  • krylon chrome paint has a decent finish to it as long as you dont try and clear over it

when I bought it I went through the garage looking for victims

ended up painting an xbox, my 100lb roller, a hammer, a windex bottle, and a shoe

    lol

  • @harvesterofsorrow899 Haha, a chrome plated Xbox. Cool!

  • Nice job on this video! You really did your homework and it paid off for you and those of us who watched it! Thanks again....

  • In my opinion it just looks cheap better off saving you money and getting it diped

  • Can this work at rims?

  • I live in Brazil and would like to start using this in chrome, someone would help me? my email is gutofione@yahoo.com.br

  • prop dont need primer, but if you spray some plastic adhesion promoter prior to the black base, would prob turn out better with little to no etching or shrinkage

  • Say if you wwere painting something would it affect the chrome if you put clear coat on after or even put it between the black gloss and chrome???

  • @ 3:52 thats so illegal.

  • you should try the graffiti brands of chrome alot´cheaper and much better opacity one coat no ptimers no cost(they are so low pressure and high pigmentetion that 1 can of chrome could cover almost 6 square meters) just a tip

  • Very helpful thanks!
