12th music video. I know this is a little late, but this video is my response against Proposition 8. This is the movement to revise the definition of marriage in the constitution by making it exclusively between a man and a woman. In essence, its a movement to ban gay marriages. The religious and conservative groups that have supported this have cited the most asinine reasons. They say that they want to promote traditional family values. Well, what family value is more traditional than love? A family is what you make of it, but that has to be the core. These groups also do not want homosexuality to be treated as an equal to heterosexuality. They also do not want to teach their children about homosexuality, which seems like they are putting their heads in the ground. Ignoring this aspect of our society will not make it go away.

I do not see whats so bad about gay parents. There is no risk of having unwanted pregnancies and we all know that there are too many already. There are kids out there who want a home. Single parents have proven that they are capable of raising their children relatively well. They prove that a family can be a loving and caring family without being a traditional one. I really wish religious groups would stop being so obsessed with the laws of their faith and focus more on the values of their faith.

Politics aside, I decided to try something different with this video. I focused on movies that had a strong theme of family into it. Often, I would focus on the two main guys and their d'aaaww. For this one, I tried to incorporate the other characters as well.

For my song choice, I had only one choice: you'll be in my heart by Phil Collins. I first heard it in Disney's Tarzan and I thought it was a beautiful song that clearly illustrated the bond between Tarzan and his mom, Kala. Although it does initially seem like a love song, there are many ways to interpret this song.

Remember, a family is defined by love, not by roles

  • Conrad Boys

  • What movies is this based on? Loved the one about the guys and the boy..... We have a children and would love to find go movies that we could watch together and that they could see there are other children out there with 2 dadas

  • I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific than that, all 4 movies had a boy in it. The movies appear before the movie starts along with the year they were released in. Its so wonderful to hear that! I hope you guys have a happy life together.

  • I just thought of a good movie that could work for kids with two dads. It's a family film, so there shouldn't be any inappropriate content. The title is "Too Cool for Christmas." The main character is a teenage girl with two dads and a little sister. I think it was originally a TV movie that aired on ABC Family, so it's the kind of thing that appeals to tweens who watch the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

  • Cool video! I've seen Shelter and Get Your Stuff. The first was really good -- the second, well it was pretty low budget, but it had its heart in the right place.

  • There are some good movies with gay dads and lesbian moms, but I think most of them are at least PG-13 level. I wish there were more family-friendly movies for gay parents and their younger children. How old are your kids?

  • wow- another great song and montage!!

I have enjoyed all of your stuff!!
