The New York Film Academy was founded on the philosophy that "learning by doing" combined with best industry practices is more valuable than years of theoretical study for filmmakers and actors. This educational model allows students to achieve more in less time then at any other university, school or institute in the world.

NYFA's accelerated two year fine arts degree are structured for students who want intensive training from award winning faculty using professional facilities and equipment starting their first day of classes; better preparing them for a career in motion picture and entertainment industries.

For those that are considering college or looking to sharpen their skills, our film and acting schools offer evening filmmaking workshops, and acting workshops. We also host summer film camps and acting camps throughout the world that are designed for high school students.

  • Is NYFA like a summer school kinda thing?

Cuz I'm interested in musical theatre, or just acting...and NYFA seems amazing :D

You can be 14 or 15 and still join right? :)

  • @Natlurvsyou4ever Hello! NYFA offers teen musical theatre programs during the summer at our New York Film Academy location in Manhattan (New York). The workshop is a four-week class taught by Broadway professionals that includes classes in tap, voice, and acting and culminates in a final showcase.

  • 0:15 the ghetto filmmaking strut :D they should've snapped their fingers while flaunting down the room, i am so ambivalent on deciding to do this, acting, or screenwriting next year. Couldn't NYFA create a 4 week program for all 3, i would devote myself to work that hard it's my passion<3

  • @Missimagination261 Students in our programs live and breath their subjects while in school, so we can't really combine topics. However, we do have short filmmaking and acting workshops and a two month screenwriting workshop. You may not be able to study everything at once, but you can attend a couple different short programs to get a taste of everything you want to do!

  • I've been thinking about attending the NYFA Masters in Filmmaking program, but I just need to get some good advice, before I finally decide to invest two years of my life for this. I hear some saying I could learn it on my own, just like some of the great directors, but I just don't know if I have the time and energy for that. Everyone has different ways of learning I suppose.

  • @levar1979 An education in filmmaking can be extremely beneficial to your career. In addition to receiving expert instruction and feedback on one's projects, students also have the opportunity to network with one another and their instructors. At the end of the program, students graduate with several films completed and a reel of their work. Of course, everyone has their own way of learning, but there are advantages to spending two years working hard with people of similar interests and goals.

  • I need some help, is this a university? And, can I go after college and get my master´s degree there?

  • im thinking about attending this college i really want to get into acting i feel i have alot of potential for it. + i live in NY. this college is only like 45 mins from me.

  • Is it worth it to do this? I'm losing sleep over deciding whether or not I should go to Film school. I LOVE film, filmmaking, the behind-the-scenes stuff. But, we all know it's not a stable career, and I don't want to starve..
