the 13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss Me (1966)

return of my reworked version of this Austin Texas band "the 13th Floor Elevators" classic performed in 1966. Added extra visuals here and there and remastered track with a bit more punch. As ever the original owners of the footage take the credit and if they wish me to remove it then just mail me.
A short note: the Elevators could have been comercially huge but were cursed with bad luck on the way culminating in the mental demise of Roky Erickson due to being placed in a mental hospital for (in the main part) the criminally insane as an example to the youth in Texas that drugs would not be tollerated. The subsequent raid that put him there arrested him with about 3 grams of Marijuana in a matchbox (speculation is that it was planted on him in the first place) unfortunatly as Roky was "Roller Coaster"ing with a much morse mental illness due to certain therapies they used at the time the rest of the band eventually folded and went their seperate ways and then any chance for a full reunion was lost when the guitarist Stacey Sutherland died from a shot wound by his estranged wife in the late 70's. All in all a sad story and for those interested its worth checking out the documentary about Roky called "you are going to miss me" also they guy deserves an induction into the RnR hall of fame so please take a moment to sign the petition at this link: http://www.petitiononline.com/roky/pe.... Yeah! you go for it! in all its wonderful audio visual splendor!! haha! really! each to their own! I made this from the remnants of the crappy video that you like so much to give people an enhanced view and audio experience of the song (heard the expression you cant polish a turd? well it was close enough!). If you think it's crap then fair enough. Enjoy the other one.

Sorry to offend, If I knew you spent time on it I might of been a bit more respectful. Whats wrong with the original vid? Why do you need to change it? It is a product of its time and, in my opinion, should stay that way.

The original video on here is shocking quality. A video tape recording where the sound flutters and the image looks like it has been taped then re-taped until it starts to look fuzzy. As I mentioned, each to their own. I took some of the higher quality version (which can be found at the start of the Roky documentary) and mixed it with this version that you mention you like.

Putting them together look strange and, as they were considered as one of the first psychedelic groups, it only seemed fitting to give it some colour to give it a psychedelic feel and to detract from the other videos poor quality. The same went with the Audio, which I decided to remaster also as the original video is a playback and not live anyway. So, in fairness, sorry If I felt a little offended that you consider it crap. If it's any consolation, the video does have Jon Ike's approval.

Since the group has been credited as being one of the first "psychedelic" bands in the history of rock n; roll, I think the art visuals here are very appropriate. Anyone who truly appreciates The Thirteenth Floor Elevators, probably already knows that there are other videos of the song on here. Kind of trivial, don't you think? A person can enjoy both.

I gave you a WARNING BUT YOU NEVER HEEDED IT. HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU MISS MY LOVE, WHEN YOU NEVER NEEDED IT? I love this song and this band so much. slip inside this house is another good song by them. So is levitation. Everybody has got to see the documentary. It is really good. All hail Roky! :)
