    because i so had the same problem about a week ago in 20ish something degree weather! LOL (72' VW Squareback)

  • @calitn3391 Sorry for the 5 month late reply.. no the starter wasn't stuck.. I think it has a cold start injector issue.. so I cycle the fuel pump a bunch of times when its really cold out to help it get going!

  • the injectors are leaking.have to cycle the key/fuel pump to build pressure .black smoke from cyl flooded. i worked on these when new, but could be press reg diaphragm leaking at THIS AGE :) reg is center towards rear of eng .

  • @knipdlo Now that makes scenes. I would have never thought thats what you were doing. When i got mine it wasn't fuel injected anymore :( has dual carbs on it.
