  • Actually, I don't think Americans saying ZEE has anything to do with Sesame Street, I think it has to do with the fact that American patriots didn't want to be/sound/associate with England after the Revolutionary War... People were calling 'Z' 'zee' hundreds of years before Sesame Street.

  • You can't say zed means "Z" as you are confusing a symbol with a phonetic. You should have said "zed" means "zee" in american-engish. And I can tell you, the only reason why Americans use that pronunciation is becuase of the alphabet song which was sung on sesame street MISPRONOUNCED it to say "ZEE" as opposed to "ZED" to rhyme with the little song they sung at the end and to make it sound more fluid. So, they say "ZEE" in the USA as they mispronounce "ZED"
