Crowning of the May Queen, Moulton, Northants, followed by Moulton Morris Men dancing "Banbury Bill"
The tradition of crowning a Queen of the May is quite widespread in Northamptonshire, but it only survives in a few places. At Moulton, just outside Northampton every year, the May Queen is crowned and processed around the village in a flower-bedecked Maycart. These days it is hauled by dozens of Morris Men from around the country. The village puts on a whole week of concerts, dancing , fair stalls and other activities.
Thanks to John Savill for footage.
