I can tell you that I've had 5 bikes and never have I owned a Yamaha before!! WEll I DO NOW AND MY 09 R1 WITH FULL EVO II IS MEAN AS HELL. BEST BIKE I'VE EVER OWNED ALL AROUND. ON THE TRACK IT'S AMAZING AND ON THE STREET AS WELL!

Yeah mate. It's got that odd, pulsed firing order. It's supposed to enhance power delivery, making it behave more like a V twin Ducati than a straight 4. Yamaha had to sacrifice top end, cause they lowered the bore and raised the stroke to have a torquier, pulsed power delivery. They obviously lost flow, hence why they lost volumetric efficiency, and subsequently: top end. But everyone seems to like this new engine.
