I miss Doakes! I'm watching the first 2 seasons again. Until last week, it had been nearly 4 yrs. since I saw S1/S2. Enough time has passed & it feels new again. I'd nearly forgotten Doakes. Watching it again, I better appreciate what an asset Erik was to this show. He brought dry, sarcastic, straight-faced humor to Doakes. He had amazing chemistry w/ the entire cast! Sure, Doakes was always busting Dex's balls & he could be a real dick, but he also made Doakes a character to enjoy & admire.
