This is a case of police abusing their power. Judge Napolitano explaining the law, AC360 with the 911 and dispatch recordings and Bill Maher telling it like it is (can't stand him but he's right on this one). Crowley should be fired and charged with unlawful entry, harassment, false arrest and violating Gates rights.

We need to push for police reform and abolish the disorderly conduct charge from the books. This blanket charge gives the police the power of punishment over people they disagree with or simply don't like. We have the right in this country to express our opinion and that includes telling a cop that we think he is a stupid ѕҺit without fear of being arrested. Almost every time their is a charge of disorderly conduct here in America the charge is dropped. This is simply a blanket charge that police use when they can't find you've committed a crime. This gives the police too much power. They know the charges will be dropped. Their intention is to punish you for not showing them the respect they think they deserve just for being a cop or insulting them. The demeaning act of being handcuffed, the humiliation of being escorted by the police in front of your neighbors to a cage in the back of a police car. And there is the trauma of being fingerprinted, getting a mugshot taken, sitting in a holding cell for hours with real criminals and having a permanent arrest record. All of this is your punishment for telling a cop what you really feel.

  • Who gives a fuck about this shit? All the news media does is cover stupid bullshit stories to try to divide our nation. They want blacks, whites and hispanics against each other, because divided we fall. Wake up people. We need to organize together and take back OUR country. Power to the people of all races.

  • Congrats cynnichol! Every "fact" you claim in your post is complete, unadulterated, tin-foil hat wearing paranoid-delusional bullshit.

Somehow you need to deal with the fact that the President of the U.S. in a black man.

  • but he wasnt being disorderly, he was in his house, would you like a cop to arrest you for being mad in your house?

  • When they played the audio from Crowley's dispatch, you can OBVIOUSLY hear somebody in the background shouting. Regardless of if it violated his rights or not, they DID kinda have a reason to subdue him if he was being uproarious/disorderly.

  • harvard professors are suppose 2 have a vast knowledge on alot of things, if he was arrested he should have called a lawyer right away and made them do a probono which would lead 2 a lawsuit.

Im sure there police cheif dont need the type of bad publicity that already exsist with most precients

  • Bill Maher wins. It's a 4th Amendment issue, and the police had no justifiable cause for arrest. You can't be disorderly in your own home. That's a police state crock of shit.

  • 12 dislikes are police

  • @robertfreed wow, the first sentance of your post here asks 'Who gives a fuck about this shit?' Then you turn around and say - in not so few words - 'I do!' which is it?

  • @EzioAuditore199 that just made the cop look like more of a dumbass

  • I for one hate cops i was walking down a street in the town i live in because i had just moved to this town so wanted to get to know parts of the town so i walked around for a bit and all of a sudden a police pulls up gets out of his car barely says anything and searches me, at the time i had rolling papers on me but just rollings papers and then another cop pulled up asking me wheres the weed at, then the cop asked me why i was walking so close to the cars on a street that had no sidewalks,

  • I agree with Dr. Dyson's statement that if Crowley been a black officer who made a similar error against a famous white Harvard Professor (say for example Henry Kissinger) he would have been placed on extended assignment as a traffic cop. I really don't see why Pres.Obama saw the need to have a so-called 'beer summit'. Can all citizens of police abuse and complaint expect the same? You shd see the YT series about police being a big "street gang"

  • @VGAUbersoldat No, tax payers funds are not to be used to drive crippled professors down to stations for being in their own house. As soon as it was established it was in fact gates home, the officer should have left and resumed his crime fighting duties.

They're here to enforce the law, not police etiquette. Taking him 'down town' and processing him took resources away while real crimes were no doubt being committed. I'd be interested to know what real crimes occurred during this time period.
