Ryan was my Grandfather's cousin.
Unfortunately none of us have inherited his incredible voice! This is without a doubt the best version of Myfanwy ever. Sends a chill down my back.
In the modern era, with the increased spotlight on Welsh language TV and the celebrity culture we have, Ryan would have been massive. What a waste that he died so young!

just caught up with this fabulous star and his wonderful rendering of Myfanwy. Fantastic!

I had the pleasure to work at Swansea Grand Theatre when Ryan (and Ronnie) appeared there, to see a panto audience sitting in absolute silence while he sat on the edge of the stage singing Myfanwy was an experienc never to be forgotten.

Ryan Davies was my teacher St. John's primary school in Croydon. He and the headmaster (also Welsh) wrote musical plays for each year's senior class (10-11 year olds). When it was my turn, the play was called "The Phantom Coach" (My dad recorded the entire show - I still have tthe tape!) We all adored him, and missed him greatly when he left us to work with the BBC. So sad he died so young - he touched many lives with his, warmth, kindness and many talents.

He was such an amazing talent, so sad that he died so young. He was a very funny man and this performance of Myfanwy is so beautiful. It makes me very homesick though!
Thank you for posting the clip.

I had the great pleasure of seeing Ryan in Babes In The Wood when I was aged 7 (1977) I can still see him now, wearing a girls blonde wig , in plaits that curled up at the side.I now watch his son on Pobol Y Cwm (he plays the part of Mark) and I often wonder if he can sing like his dad.Cried my eyes out watching this video.Nos da Ryan, cariad.
