  • @paymisty4me Did everyone wash their fabric first? I bought one from someone and it works great. Fabric has sizing in it and maybe the sizing causes a chemical reaction. Also, the batting is really important.. it must be totally 100 percent cotton. I would check the mfg. where it was made? Some countries don't have the same standards in labeling. I poured water on some I had, two different mfg. companies, one repelled the water and another soaked it up. Both had the same labeling.

  • @jreplo1 Did you wash the fabric first to remove the manufacturer's finish?

  • I made 3 of these, tried one in my microwave, had the thing start smoldering. Sent one to a friend who put it in the microwave & walked outside. When he came back in, the thing was on fire. I don't know what to try next, but I'm gonna conquer this thing.

  • Same thing happened to me. My sister-in-law, who has made hundreds of them, said the only thing she could think of was that the fabric was not 100% cotton. I used 100% cotton batting, 100% cotton thread & what was labelled as 100% cotton fabric. She suggested I buy my fabric at a quilting store, which apparently has a better reputation with their fabrics than JoAnn's, Hancock's, WalMart, etc. I've always bought my fabric at JoAnn's and had no problem with any of it.

  • I made this microwave potato bag with cotton material , cotton batting and coats and clark mercerized cotton tread. After 4 mininutes the potatoe was not done and smoke and burnt smell (almost a fire) what did i do wrong.

I used a damp paper towel to wrap the potatoe in
