Yeah, everything in the books is about 10x more violent in the books. But sansan ship is a lot more complex then that. It's not some perverse fantasy- though it is very, very dark. I don't think Sandor ever was going to rape her- he says this just to regain power psychologically, because the tables have turned on him and he's being hurt again. Sandor is a damaged, emotionally stunted man who fell in love with another broken human, who he would never intentionally hurt.

He's a man that has never received much love in life. When he was younger, he was brutalized and scarred by his brother. He's been treated as a dog, and less than rubbish. People fear him, but no one respects him. When he saw Sansa, and how beautiful she was, he was both fascinated and disgusted by his feelings towards her. However, he has become oddly protective of her, especially since he thinks she is a kindred spirit. He has told her things that he has never told anyone, like his scarring.
